Botox

What is

Botox?

Botox is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that is primarily used to temporarily reduce the appearance of fine line and wrinkles on the face, but can also be utilized to treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), reduce the impact of chronic migraines and to slim the jawline. This non-invasive medical miracle is a neuromodulator composed of a unique ingredient known as botulinum toxin type A. When injected, Botox prevents repeated muscle movement. The nerve receptors of the injected area are then blocked, preventing the injected muscle from contracting. Since dynamic facial wrinkles are caused by repeated muscle contractions, the use of Botox effectively reduces the appearance of wrinkles caused by these contractions. Getting Botox is virtually painless and ultimately leads to the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in a smooth, revitalized appearance for our Charlotte, NC patients.

How Long

DOES botox LAST?

For most patients, the effects of Botox lasts between 3 and 4 months. In that time period, the body will slowly break down the injected solution, therefore ongoing maintenance is required to maintain results. Some patients metabolize Botox more rapidly so they may experience a slightly shorter period of results, while others may experience effects that last up to 6 months. This is completely dependent on your body’s natural metabolic process, lifestyle and activity levels.

What To Expect From

YOUR BOTOX TREATMENT

During your initial consultation, we will evaluate your specific needs and create a customized treatment plan that is tailored toward the results you are seeking. Your treatment plan will include the areas to be injected, the number of units for your desired outcome and the total cost of the procedure. After this has been reviewed, we will then begin administering Botox through a series of small injections.
Getting Botox causes minimal discomfort and usually only takes 15-30 minutes to complete. Since the treatment is non-invasive, there is no required downtime following the procedure. In order to maintain results, continued treatments spaced 3-4 months apart is suggested.
